Cost and Registration

Free!  Breakfast and lunch are included with registration.  UC Edge will be able to host 200 participants this year.  There will also be a waitlist in the event of cancellations.

Description

The UC Edge: University of California Recruitment Day is an all-day event for underrepresented undergraduates who are engaged in a faculty-mentored research program (CEA-CREST, MBRS-RISE, BRIDGES, MARC, HHMI, UC LEADS, IMSD, McNair, etc.) UC Edge is open to master’s students. Faculty, graduate students, and staff from all ten UC campuses will be available to meet with interested students of all disciplines about the many graduate opportunities within the University of California system.

UC Edge will have multiple concurrent workshops designed to expand on general areas commonly addressed in summer research programs, the California Forums for Diversity in Graduate Educations, and participation in academic year research programs. The tentative workshop schedule will include:

  • Specific Fellowship Opportunities
    • Ford, Javits, Fulbright, NSF GRFP, UC Diversity Fellowships
  • Discipline specific faculty and graduate student panels
  • Dissecting the Graduate Application
    • Letters of Recommendation, Statement of Purpose, etc.
  • Maximizing your time at Conferences
  • UC San Diego department/lab visits
