2001-02 Explanation Of Graduate Student Tuition/Fee ChartThe attached chart shows the different components making up resident fees. These are the Registration, Educational, University Center, Recreation Facility, Graduate Student Association (GSA) and Health Insurance Fees. In addition, California nonresidents and international students pay tuition. The amount of Resident Fees, Nonresident Tuition and Tuition/Fees for advanced and non-advanced students are shown by quarter (F = Fall, W = Winter and S = Spring) and for quarter combination and yearly totals. Also, programs covering partial fees (ICFG, TAHI and TAFE) are listed with quarterly and yearly totals. NONRESIDENT TUITION: A graduate doctoral student may receive the reduced nonresident tuition rate beginning with the first quarter following advancement to candidacy and ending three years later. After three years, any student who continues to be enrolled will be charged the full nonresident tuition rate. ICFG: The In-Candidacy Fee Offset Grant (ICFG) is paid for those students who have advanced to Ph.D. Candidacy and are within their Normative Time Limit. The Educational portion of fees is paid under ICFG and funded by the Office of the President (OP). ICFG per quarter is $966/965/965 or $2896/year for residents and $1029/1029/1028 or $3086/year for nonresidents. The chart shows what the balance of fees or tuition/fees are for a student eligible for ICFG. TAHI: TA Health Insurance (TAHI) is paid for those students employed on academic titles for 25% time or more during the quarter. For state funded (19900) appointments the cost is funded by the Office of the President. TAHI is $312/quarter or $936/year. TAFE: Like TAHI, students are eligible for TA Fee Remission (TAFE) if employed on academic titles for 25% time or more during the quarter. TAFE will be funded by each campus and will pay 85% of Registration Fee and 85% of Educational Fee. TAFE is $1023/quarter or $3069/year for residents and $1077/quarter or $3231/year for nonresidents. ICFG + TAFE + TAHI: If a student is eligible for ICFG, TAFE and TAHI, the chart shows the balance of fees and/or tuition. TAFE pays 85% of Educational Fee and 85% of Registration Fee; ICFG pays only the balance of Educational Fee. Therefore, ICFG is $145/quarter or $435/year for residents and $154/quarter for nonresidents or $462/year. OFF-CAMPUS (OUT-OF-STATE) STUDY: For those students studying off-campus, half of the Registration Fee of $238/238/237 is waived, or $119/119/118.50. |
