This page presents general information for submitting fellowship applications and signature pages to OGS.
While students can submit many fellowship applications on their own, others must be submitted on the student’s behalf (or at least reviewed) by UCSD. Some funding opportunities (those the university considers fellowships) are processed through OGS, while others (those the university considers grants) are processed through OCGA.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of fellowship applications that are processed by OGS:
Many of these fellowships have special internal deadlines for submission. Check the graduate funding blog for announcements of internal deadlines. If no special internal deadline is announced, For all fellowship applications requiring OGS review and/or submission, all forms and signature pages, as well as a substantially final draft of the research plan, must be turned in to OGS no later than 14 calendar days before the agency deadline.
For example, if you are applying for a fellowship due November 1 and require Dean Barrett’s signature, you must submit the complete application to OGS no later than October 18. (This policy also applies to renewal forms for fellowships, such as NIH F31 progress reports.)
(Those applying for NIH F31 NRSA fellowships should refer to our F31 application guide.)
OGS cannot guarantee that applications turned in later than 14 days before the agency deadline will be submitted on time.
