SHORE - Student Housing Opportunity for Recruitment Enhancement
Congratulations on being nominated as a participant in the Student Housing Opportunity for Recruitment Enhancement (SHORE)! This is a special program for outstanding, incoming graduate students. Please review the following information carefully, along with the Frequently Asked Questions, About Mesa Apartments, About One Miramar Apartments, and Decision/Information Form, before making your decision to accept the nomination.
Program Provisions
- Housing is available for incoming Fall 2009 graduate students nominated for SHORE by their academic program.
- A limited number of two-bedroom apartments in the Mesa Residential (Mesa) and One Miramar Street (OMS)Apartments are made available for this program.
- Single students live one to a bedroom (two students to a two-bedroom apartment) at OMS or Mesa; a couple occupies their own apartment with two bedrooms at OMS or Mesa; a family occupies their own 2-bedroom apartment at Mesa.
- Each student signs his/her own month-to-month rental agreement and pays a $100 deposit. Housing will follow up with each student to finalize the rental agreement and collect the deposit. Students who receive an offer early may choose the Prior to April 15th Option.
- Each SHORE participant is viewed as a primary resident with equal rights to the apartment. SHORE participants are guaranteed housing through normative time to degree plus one year.
- Students must respond immediately to the housing offer. The offer maybe rescinded if there is no response by the deadline.
Move-In Dates
- Students who participate in SHORE may take possession of an apartment between June 1 and September 30 based on requested move in date and availability of apartments as deemed by the Housing Office. Some spaces may be available earlier on a limited basis.
- Housing will extend one (1) offer with a rent start date as early as 2 weeks prior to the requested start date listed on the Decision/Information Form, and as late as September 30th.
- All rental charges begin on the date listed on the rental agreement, which is determined by the Housing Office. This date may not be your exact move-in date.
Roommate Selections
- OGS and Associated Residential staff will coordinate roommate selections based on the enclosed Decision/Information Form. (Primary factors are gender and requested move-in date.)
- Roommates will be other SHORE participants of the same gender.
- Roommate information will be emailed after both students sign their rental agreements.
