What you need to apply 

Below are the items that you will need to make a complete application for graduate study at UC San Diego

  • Official transcripts or official copies of academic records from all post-secondary institutions attended.
  • Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores. Check your department listing for test requirements. Some departments require the subject test as well. The UCSD Institution Code is 4836.
  • A minimum of three letters of recommendation. Most departments prefer online letters of recommendation. For the online letter of recommendation process, you must provide the email address of each recommender.
  • International applicants only: Official passing scores for the TOEFL or IELTS Academic Training exam to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. The UCSD Institution Code is 4836.
